There he joined a chess club and earned his first Elo rating.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;In 1998 he was awarded the title of International Master (IM).&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;In 1999 he won the Young Masters Tournament in Zug, .&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;In 2000 he became the champion of Bavaria and for the first time participated in the German championship, where he took fourth place, in the same year he received a diploma in the specialty of a teacher.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;In early 2004, he received the title of Grandmaster, fulfilled all standards, in the 2nd Bundesliga 2000/01, at the GM tournament in Griesheim in January 2003 and the GM tournament in Miskolc in March 2004.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;In 2005 he finished ninth in the individual German championship and was a member of the German national team in the Mitropa Cup.
